Choose AI tools from evidence, not hype

HumanRank editorial graphic for Choose AI tools from evidence, not hype

HumanRank publishes practical guides to choosing AI tools. Our launch guides draw product facts from vendor documents and independent studies checked on 14 October 2026, and each guide links its sources. Where we have not tested something ourselves, we say so.

A "documented starting point" is the tool whose own documentation best fits the most common need in that category. It is not a test result, and each guide explains when a different tool fits better.

What makes these guides different

We separate three kinds of statement. A documented fact comes from the vendor's own pages, with a link. An editorial judgment is our reading of what those facts mean for a task. A tested result comes from an experiment we ran and published. Every launch guide today uses the first two kinds only, and says so in its method section.

We put limits next to strengths. Each tool gets the same fields: what it is best for, its documented strength, and its main limitation. A limitation is often the deciding factor: an upload cap you will hit, a default training setting, or a clip length that is too short for your shot.

We cite outside evidence when it exists. Independent studies of AI search accuracy, developer productivity and code security appear where they change a decision, with the study's own numbers, date and scope.

What we have not done yet

HumanRank has not yet published hands-on tests. You will see "Not tested" in every score column until a test with a documented method, dates and retained results is published. Our ranking method sets out what a test must include before a score appears.

How we are funded

No link on our launch guides pays us a commission: they point to vendor documentation and independent research. HumanRank's operator also has commercial interests in AI writing products that compete with some tools we cover. Our disclosure page explains that conflict and the rules we apply because of it.

Found an error?

Vendors change limits, plans and defaults often. If a fact on a guide is out of date, contact us with the page and the source that shows the change. We re-check pages when vendors update their documentation.
